"Specializing in making fast bikes faster," Custom Performance began in April 2000 with the
introduction of Charlie Mitchell and Nick Trask through a mutual friend.
Originally from New Zealand, Nick entered trade school at the age of sixteen and learned to work
on anything with a motor. He eventually opened his own shop, where a deficiency in available
parts forced Nick to sharpen his talent for custom fabrication. Drawn to the States by a more
prosperous economy, Nick packed his bags and came to America. The current line-up at Custom
Performance also includes Harlan "Lee" Hague, Ronald Piner and Robert "Doc" Bergansky, boasting
over 70 years combined experience.
With a full service machine shop capable of steel and aluminum welding and fabrication, Nick
prides Custom Performance on not being simple parts fitters who will only bolt on new components.
The services offered by Custom Performance range from a simple oil change to building custom bikes
from the ground up. Custom Performance is also a Dynojet approved tuning center with a
state-of-the-art, soundproof Dyno test cell. Adding fuel-injection specialists to their
credentials nearly completes the list of quality services Custom Performance provides for its
customers.
From a stage one hop kit offering a gain of 8-10 horse power to a turbo big-inch engine supplying
200 HP at the rear wheel, Custom Performance will design a performance package for any Harley.
Your budget and imagination are the only limit to the performance upgrades Custom Performance can
create.
Sponsoring the Horsepower Competition at Arizona Bike Week for the second year in a row, Custom
Performance is adding an unlimited street class allowing any size V-twin motorcycle registered for
the road. Pre-registration has already reached the total number participants from last year
indicating this year will likely hold twice the number of competitors. Though having plenty of
room to grow, Custom Performance does not often have the chance to take part in many events with
up to 20 bikes in the shop at any one time. However, they do take time to participate in
charitable functions benefiting Boys and Girls Clubs, Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters and the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States.
Custom Performance also offers an online parts store at
http://www.fastbikesaz.com featuring
aftermarket Harley parts including manufacturers such as Drag Specialties and CCI. Their web
site also allows users to send technical questions via an online form. At their current location
of 21601 N. 3rd Avenue in Phoenix since September of 2002, Custom Performance can be reached by
phone at (623) 879-8488, or fax (623) 879-8470 to address your custom performance needs.
